Hello! My name is Jason Dorow, and I’m a sports broadcaster in the Twin Cities. Currently I’m a play-by-play announcer for Minnesota Prep Spotlight and Augsburg University, in addition to handling various freelance assignments. I’m also a communications associate at the Bloomington-based agency Tunheim. You can view my latest reel below or by following this link and you can see my resume by clicking here.
In college, I served as the sports director at Northwestern’s student-run radio station (WNUR), managing all online and on-air content while broadcasting games for 11 different Wildcat athletic programs (including basketball, football, baseball, softball, volleyball and lacrosse) via WNUR and BTN. Additionally I managed the re-design of the station’s website, social media and logos, which positioned the outlet as a one stop shop for fan-centric coverage of NU athletics and led to traffic and engagement highs. I also spent three months as an editorial intern at the Chicago-based marketing firm Teamworks Media, where I wrote and edited stories for the Big Ten Network’s LiveBIG campaign.
During the summers of 2015 and 2016, I was the radio broadcaster and media relations assistant for baseball teams in the Northwoods League and Cape Cod Baseball League, where I wrote features and daily game recaps, broadcasted more than 110 games and managed social media accounts. On top of a bachelor’s degree from the Medill School of Journalism, I graduated with a minor in business institutions and a certificate in integrated marketing communications. A native of Burnsville, Minnesota, I was also a member of the Northwestern club basketball team and a practice player for the Northwestern women’s varsity basketball team.
